About the event
Join us as we take a tour through Kamakura’s oldest Zen temple and finish with a walk through the woods.
We will meet at Kita-Kamakura train station along the JR line. After departing we will walk 1/4 mile to Kenchoji Temple. This temple was founded in 1253 and is a beautiful sight to be seen. After exploring the grounds we will make our way (after climbing a bunch of stairs) to Hansobo shrine. Once we have taken in the view we will continue into the forest to follow the Kamakura Tenen Trail. Upon completing the trail we will walk 1/2 mile through a neighborhood to Ditonomiya bus stop. We will take the bus back to Kamakura Station where we will finish.
The total length of this trail from station to bus stop is about 4 miles. It is a beginner friendly hike. Please bring money for entrance to Kenchoji Temple…
