The mission of the Officers' Spouses' Association of Yokosuka (OSAY) is to foster morale, friendship, and community engagement through social, cultural, and spouse enrichment activities.
OSAY is a non-profit, social organization open to SOFA-sponsored spouses of active and retired U.S. military officers and DOD civilians (GS-7 and above) residing in the greater Yokosuka area.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2020-2021 OSAY Board elections! We have a great new group of leaders lined up and they are already working to plan a great year ahead.
In other news, we are still in Shelter In Place restrictions to mitigate the spread of the Corona virus on base among families and sailors and off-base among our Japanese neighbors. Although to date, there have only been a few confirmed cases on base, all base entities and local authorities are urging all Japanese nationals as well as military and SOFA sponsored dependents to act with caution, with social distancing and increased personal hygiene. We are seeing eased restrictions like more normal business hours at the Commissary and NEX stores, Post Office, kids can play on the playgrounds again and we can gather outside with up to five friends. One more thing - Starbucks just re-opened today (ca I get an AMEN!). Be safe, wear your masks.
Therefore, with your health & safety and that of our military, and Japanese neighbors in mind, the OSAY Board has CANCELLED scheduled events for the remainder of this OSAY year thru June 14th. Please visit the OSAY website and Membership Facebook page frequently for updates once restrictions have been lifted as well as alternative virtual events.
