About the event

Mochi  is a Japanese rice cake made of  mochigome, a short-grain japonica glutinous rice.   The rice is pounded into paste and molded into the desired shape.

Rice has been regarded as holy food in Japan from ancient times.  The rice harvested is thought to be food that raises vitality.   It is said that the rice cake is stronger in vitality than rice.  Mochi is a popular food to eat at the New Year holiday.
